One of my favorite things to do at Minato-no-Mieru Oka Park is to start my visit early in the morning when the park is quiet and the air is fresh. I love grabbing a coffee from a nearby café and enjoying it on one of the benches with a view of the bay—it’s a great way to start the day.

If you’re there in the evening, the sunset views from Harbor View Plaza are absolutely breathtaking and make for a perfect end to your visit. I also recommend bringing a blanket if you’re visiting in the cooler months; the park is just as beautiful in autumn when the leaves change color, adding a warm, cozy atmosphere to your time there.

I am Jill, a Filipina mom living in Yokohama, Japan. After almost five years of dating, I married my Japanese boyfriend in 2016 and left everything behind to start a new life in Japan. What I thought would be nothing but an effortless adventure filled with sushi feasts and Shibuya nights turned out to be a bit more difficult than I expected. I created this YouTube channel to help out other clueless gaijins out there tackle the more challenging aspects of life in Japan — such as learning the language, being a foreign parent and, well, choosing the best sanitary napkin.
